Doin’ Some Tags (Because I’m Quite Behind) ~ In Which I Do three Tags to Conserve Space (Yay! Space Conservation!)

So, ages ago (in April) both Liesl and Pearl tagged me for various blog tags. And I put them off because I got busy. But I thought, These tabs have been open in my browser for awhile to remind me to get to this, so I guess I’d better do ’em.

So here I am!

I will be doing the Never Have I Ever tag and the Sunshine Blogger Award (from Pearl) and the I’ll Get Around to It Later tag (from Liesl). I’m looking forward to this, so letsa go!

Super Mario 64 GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY
Drunk Mario GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Sorry. I couldn’t resist the chaotic Mario GIFs hehe.

Alright, we’ll start with the

Like I said, Pearl tagged me for this one. This is one that I’ve seen floating around for awhile and I’ve wanted to do it. And now I finally get the chance!

1. Link and thank the blogger who tagged you. ✔

2. Include the graphic somewhere in the post (or make your own!) ✔

3. Answer the questions truthfully and honestly. ✔ (Why wouldn’t I?)

4. Tag 3 bloggers. ✔

Never Have I Ever. . . .

Started a Novel I Didn’t Finish

I mean, I’ve been writing since I was five. I have notebooks upon notebooks and docs upon docs full of unfinished projects. I’m a spur-of-the-moment gal, and that results in a lot of decisions that I regret making and/or projects I just drop. I would go through and count all my unfinished novels and novellas, but that would take me ages and I’m probably missing a bunch. The total is probably around 20 or 30 by now, maybe more. 😅

Written a Story Completely By Hand

Well, besides all the picture books I wrote when I was younger, I’ve actually written a short story or two. I participated in a writing challenge on Zoom with several of my friends and I couldn’t do it near a computer so I was forced to write in a composition notebook. It was stressful because my writing speed is a lot faster on the computer (so long as I don’t get distracted 😅) and I was worried I would run out of time. Fortunately, I just barely made it!

Nine- or ten-year-old me also wrote a couple of Nancy Drew “fanfics”. There are probably others that I can’t remember right now.

OH! I almost forgot my two and a half book novella series that I poured my heart and soul into and then promptly lost the first book. I spent ages on it and I did a good bit of research for it too (which was rare for me back then hehe). I wish I knew where the first book is.

Changed Tenses Midway Through a Story

Actually, no. I mean, maybe I did in a sentence or two because I couldn’t figure out how to word it, but I’m pretty consistent with my tense. It really gets on my nerves when the tense just changes for no reason.

Not Researched Anything Before Starting a Story

Haha, if you guys could read my short story series about a college girl named Ginger, you would be able to tell that I knew absolutely nothing about college, school, romance, friendship, normal families, adoption, etc. when I wrote it. It’s a mess. I’m still really proud of it because it was my “big project” when I wrote it, but I was just a wee writer back then and apparently I didn’t know that research existed. I should rewrite it sometime. Maybe I could rewrite and post it here. That might be fun.

Changed My Protagonist’s Name Halfway Through a Draft

Yeah, in that chapter book series I mentioned earlier. The main character’s name was originally Kari Astrid, but then I changed it to Ella Astrid. Why? I dunno. Why not?

Nowadays, I get really attached to my character names (and literally everything else LOL), so I have to be careful with the “placeholder names” I choose because they usually end up not being placeholders heh. I feel like I’m betraying the character when I change their name, despite them not being real at all and probably not caring anyway. BUT THEY’RE REAL TO MEEE!!!

Written a Story in a Month or Less

What kind of story we talking? I’ve finished LOADS of short stories and picture books in, like, an hour. Or less. I’ve never done a whole novel in a month, despite attempting NaNoWriMo several times. Maybe one day.

Fallen Asleep While Writing

Uh. No? How does one even do this? I’ve written while exhausted but like. . . . I’ve never actually fallen asleep at my computer or even in my bed while writing by hand. (I mean, not until after I put the notebook away and snuggled under the covers.)

Corrected Someone’s Grammar IRL/Online

Okay, so when my grandfather died, my parents went with my grandmother to help arrange the funeral. I requested to go because IDK I thought it might be interesting. The lady that was helping us figure out all the details had only had one hour of sleep that night (after being out all night doing her job), so when she typed up the obituary, she brought it back to us so we could triple-check for typos. Of course, being the grammar Nazi I am, I just had to say something, and the lady suggested I go back to her office and fix everything that was wrong. I FELT SO MEAN!! But it was lowkey kind of fun getting to sit back in her office and type on her computer all by myself. She even trusted me enough to leave me unsupervised. I mean, I would never do anything suspicious, but I’m glad she trusted me enough for that. I’m proud to announce that there were no typos in that particular news article that day. 😁

Outside of that, the amount of your/you’re typos I’ve corrected jokingly is quite extreme.

Yelled in all-Caps at Myself in the Middle of My Novel

Not at myself, but I have screamed at the world in all-caps in the middle of writing a short story hehe.

Used “I’m Writing” as an Excuse

Only to my brother. And once to my mom when she needed me and I was in the middle of a sentence. Don’t interrupt me when I’m in the middle of a sentence. I don’t want to lose it (the sentence, not my sanity).

Killed a Character That Was Based on Someone I Know in Real LIfe

How about, not yet. 😏😈

There’s a lot of chaos in the plotting world right now hehe.

Used Pop Culture References in a Story

Yeah, but it’s usually some random obscure thing that only my siblings would get, like an inside joke from a YouTube channel or TV show we might have watched, or a song our baby brother is obsessed with (looking at you Blippi *glares as the first notes of “The Excavator Song” play in the back of my head*). But I mean, I mostly write fantasy so there aren’t always opportunities for blatant references.

Written Between the Hours of 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM

Yes I have. It was in June of last year, actually. I’d set a goal for myself to write at least 250 words every day during June, and my family was taking a day trip to visit our cousins so I wouldn’t have the chance to write. Well, I couldn’t fall asleep, so I decided, why not do it now, super early in the morning? So I did. And then I stayed up longer, fell asleep at 4:30 and woke up at 6:00. It was a fun day, but the drive back home was miserable.

Now, I’m just naturally awake late (sometimes all the way to 5:00 AM) so I feel like I’ll be doing this a lot more IF I EVER ACTUALLY FINISH PLOTTING AGH

Drank an Entire Pot of Coffee While Writing

I don’t really like coffee. Although, I haven’t tried it for over a decade so maybe it’s time I give it another go. I feel very non-white girl not liking coffee. Have I betrayed my kind??

Written Down Dreams to Use in a Potential Novel

Y’all. My dreams are strangely cinematic. Why wouldn’t I?

Published an Unedited Story on the Internet/Blog/Wattpad

No. I’m not crazy. I do one proof-read and then I post! Obviously! Unedited. Pff.

Procrastinated schoolwork Because I Wanted to Write

No, but I’ve been tempted to. I didn’t because I knew I’d never get back to it and then I’d be in trouble.

Typed So Long My Wrists Hurt

Yeah, but only because my desk is so much higher than my chair. ‘Tis a steep incline.

Spilled a Drink on My Laptop While Writing

I don’t have a laptop, but my sister has one, so let me ask her.

“Nope. Never done that.”

She has a way with words, that one.

The worst I’ve done to my computer is spill goldfish on my keyboard (the crackers, not the actual fish I had when I was little. RIP Goldie. 😥), and I threw popcorn at the screen once. Hey, stuff goes down on YWW. Sometimes you just gotta throw popcorn at your friends’ profile pics.

I promise, I’m sane.

Actually. . . .

No. No I don’t. Jury’s still out on that one.

Forgotten to Save my Work/Draft

Well, I forgot to save a copy of the newsletter my family used to write and I lost EVERYTHING. Since then, I’ve been very careful about clicking the save button at random intervals. *clicks save button*

Finished a Novel

Never a full 50k word novel. But I’m currently plotting a whole series and when I finish plotting, I can actually start writing. Hopefully it won’t be too hard to reach 50k. I’m a little worried that all my plotting will be for naught.

Laughed Like an Evil Villain While Writing a Scene

Hehe, yes, with my sister reading over my shoulder. Needless to say, she was a little traumatized.

Cried While Writing a Scene

Not yet. But, I am very emotional and there are some sad scenes in my plot, so it’s probable.

Created Maps of My Fictional World

I’m working on putting the finishing touches on one right now, actually! I needed a map to get my fantasy land out of my jumbled brain. And this way, I can make sure my characters’ various quests make sense! Some of them don’t, so I’ll have to find a workaround for that. It’s been fun, but very stressful. Sometimes I feel like my brain is going to explode 😅

Researched Something Shady For a Novel

Not yet, but a have a bunch of stuff saved on Pinterest hehe.

Alright, next is the

Idk where this image came from, but it was on my last Sunshine Blogger post soo

This is my second time being tagged for this award and I think it’s my favorite because sunshine is nice. Pearl tagged me for this one!

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog. ✔

2. Answer the questions. ✔

3. Nominate eleven bloggers and ask them eleven questions. ✔ (Well, more or less.)

Pearl’s Questions:

1. What Website or App Do You Spend the Most Time on?

Currently, it’s YouTube, but if I ever rejoin YWW, that’ll probably take the crown.

2. Do You Like Car Rides?

Depends on where I’m sitting. Squished up in the back with my siblings? Ha, no thanks. Shotgun? Sure, that’s nice. Driver’s seat at night WHILE IT’S RAINING???? Yesssss pleaseeeee!!!

3. Can You Drive / Are You Learning to Drive / Do You Like Driving?

I guess the last answer answers this question! I got my learner’s permit almost two years ago and I really like driving, so long as it’s not too chaotic. I’m absolutely atrocious at parking, but we’re getting there. I’m supposed to take my driver’s test soon so I can chauffeur my grandmother around and I’m excited about that.

4. Have You Ever Been Unconscious Before?

No, besides when I sleep. I did almost faint once, when my dad was skinning chickens, and another time out of the blue in the shower, but it’s never actually happened. Thankfully. From what I’ve heard, it does not sound fun.

5. Favorite Flower?

Okay, I know it’s basic, but I loove sunflowers! They’re just so pretty and sometimes I feel like a walking sunflower myself. I’m tall and sunny and fragile. I also really like tulips and irises and flower of the Holy Spirit orchids. And orchids in general. They’re just so nice!

6. Do You Like Listening to Music While Studying Or Doing Other THings? If So, What Kind?

I’m actually listening to music right now! (Okay, well, it’s a McDonald’s ad.) (Never mind, Love is Gone by SLANDER just came on.) I usually listen to music in the evenings when I’m browsing Pinterest or checking emails or writing blog posts. I don’t typically listen to instrumental music (despite the fact that it’s really nice), so if I were to listen to it while I do school or write a letter etc. I would get distracted really easily. Hey, sometimes you can’t resist dancing along!

As for what kind, honestly, kid, I really don’t know. There are all kinds of genres in my playlist ranging from showtunes to trap. I usually just put my playlist on shuffle and listen to whatever the heck comes on. Like, I just went from a tender love song to a way darker song about closing your eyes. (Although the singer says “close your highs” instead of “close your eyes” and it’s kind of annoying.) My music is all over the place.

7. What are Your Favorite Girl or Boy Names?

Girl Names

Rebekah (or Rebecka)
Delilah (I would never name my daughter this but I still really like it)

Boy Names

Huh. I just realized. Most of the girl names are just names that I’ve seen and loved, but most of the boy names are the names of guys I actually know (or used to know). That’s kind of interesting.

8. What Does Your Morning/Evening Routine Look Like?

Well, my morning routine starts with me waking up towards noon (’cause I stay up so late writing or composing or plotting or reading or–) after turning off my alarm a thousand times LOL. Then, I get on my phone, read my Bible, scroll through Pinterest, play a game, just something to wake me up. If I had a crazy dream, sometimes I’ll write it down in my journal.

Once I’m awake (more or less), I head to the bathroom and get ready, brush my hair, fret over my acne, you know, the usual. Then, I head back to my room and get dressed, make sure nobody’s texted me or anything. And then, I’ll go eat lunch (’cause it’s usually ready by the time I’m up). After that, I start on school or do something with my siblings if it’s the summer.

My evening routine is basically nothing. I get on the computer between 7:00 and 8:00 PM and stay on till around 1:00. Sometimes I get bored and get off sooner. For the past couple of nights, I’ve played Risk with my brother (we have a super old version of the game where the world is square and definitely not proportionately correct at all, but it’s still fun to play). After I get tired enough (usually around 2:00 or 3:00 AM), I’ll head to bed. Sometimes I read, sometimes I plot, sometimes I lay in bed and contemplate how weird my life is.

Oh, and I also take a shower in there somewhere. LOL

9. What’s Something You’re Oddly Passionate About?

Hmm. . . . good question. I can’t really think of anything. There’s the usual “nOt LiKe OtHeR giRLs” crap. I take being a good friend very seriously, and if someone mistreats me, even in the slightest, I feel like I failed them as a friend. Maybe that’s just an anxiety thing heh.

10. Do You Have Any Hidden Talents?

For some reason, my newer friends are kind of surprised that I can draw. I gave one of my guy friends a drawing once, and he just went, “Holy COW!” and stared at it for a beat. I do like surprising people with my art skills. Their reactions are hilarious.

I can also pick up a lot of instruments really quick. Not well, mind you, but I can get the basics down pretty quick. Especially instruments that don’t require lung power 😅

11. It Would Appear That Pearl Accidentally Wrote the Same Question Twice, so I Guess There’s Only Ten Questions. Oh Well.

My Questions:

1. What Was the Last Song You Listened To?
2. Have You Ever Tried a Banana-Mayonnaise Sandwich? How DId You Like it? If Not, Would You Consider Trying One?
3. What is the Ratio of Real to Celebrity/Fictional Crushes You’ve Had?
4. Have You Been to the South? What Was Your Favorite Part? What Was Your Least Favorite Part?
5. How Many Blogs Are You Following?
6. Favorite VEgetable?
7. Favorite Fruit?
8. Favorite Kind of Bean? (And You Can’t Say the Toe Beans on Cats 😉)
9. Have You Ever Seen a Show on Broadway? What Show Was It? If Not, What Show Would You Like to See One Day?
10. If You Were to Be a Fugitive Under the Law, What Would be the Crime You CommiTted? (Whether Accidentally or On Purpose)
11. What is the View Out the Nearest Window?

Finally, we have

Liesl created this tag, and she tagged me for it, so I am very excited for it! Besides, I haven’t done a book tag in awhile. Maybe this will help remind me of what I need to read.

A classic book that you have been meaning to read forever but haven’t yet

Besides all the ones on last year’s reading list that I ignored?

I would really love to read The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. It sounds really interesting. I read the synopsis when I found it at the bookstore (but didn’t buy it because I knew my mom wouldn’t let me get it what with all the sexual content) and it has an interesting premise.

A book on your shelf that you haven’t read yet

Um. . . . most of them?

Cress is the third book by the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. I got the entire boxset for Christmas and I’m only on the second book. But I’m almost done!

*flashbacks to all the ranting I’ve done in various recap posts* *sigh*

A book that you got recently that you haven’t read

Well, the last time I went book shopping was in July and the bag is still sitting under my bed, waiting to be unloaded.

I’ve seen this book floating around and it looks interesting, so I grabbed it! (Plus it was highly recommended by one of my friends.) I’m actually really looking forward to reading it — so long as I stop procrastinating. 😅

A book that you’ve had forever but haven’t read

I read an abridged version ages ago and loved it, but the full version is a little thicker than I was prepared for. I do really love the story so maybe I can read it sometime.

A book a friend recommended that you haven’t read

I get a lot of recommendations from my friends, but this is one that I’m particularly excited for.

My friend thought I would really love the worldbuilding and if someone thinks I’m going to like the worldbuilding, then I am super excited to read the book they suggested! Besides, worldbuilding is just one of my favorite parts of writing in general.

A book you’re procrastinating on

Uhhhhh. . . . all of them?

Okay, how about this one?

When I was younger, I went through a phase where I was obsessed with Dance Moms. (I don’t know why. I’m horrified by that show now.) Maddie was one of my favorites on the show and I kind of wanted to read her book. I was quite excited to find a used copy at the bookstore, and I read the first chapter. And then stopped for some reason? So now I’m just procrastinating reading the rest of it. No idea why.

(Also, can we talk about how the heck they got that cover image? It makes my brain hurt.)

The next book on your TBR

Probably Cress, or maybe Assassins, the sixth book in the Left Behind series. If I decide to read something else, I’ll probably read The Hunger Games.

My parents are finally letting me read it, and I can’t to get in on the fandom! I’ve been in the dark for too long.

The Liebster Award ~ In Which We Do This Again

Well, look at that! I’ve been tagged for the Liebster award again! The last time I did this award was back in February 2021, so I’m excited to do it again! Neria over at Writing For Fun Forever was kind enough to tag me, and I can’t wait to answer her questions! So off we go!

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog ✔

2. Answer the 11 questions given to you ✔

3. Nominate 11 other bloggers ✔

4. Ask your nominees 11 questions ✔

1. If you had to move to one place on the Earth and stay there for the rest of your life, where would it be?

Either Michigan or England. I have several friends up in Michigan and I’ve always wanted to go up there, and England is just amazing. Although it does get pretty cold in both of those places. I would probably freeze to death.

2. What’s your favorite candle scent?

None of them. Scented candles are just. . . . nasty. And unhealthy.

3. What’s your favorite music genre? And, list your top 5 songs from that genre.

*sweats nervously* Heck if I know. I don’t know how to tell genres apart. I do enjoy Latin music, but I don’t listen to that much of it? I can tell you artists that I enjoy, but genres is where I have a problem 😅 I like hip-hop, but I don’t like to listen to too much of it at one time because of how heavy it is.

Ooh, actually, showtunes! Am I allowed to do that? 😂 And my five favorites would be. . . . Wait For It from Hamilton, You Will Be Found and To Break in a Glove from Dear Evan Hansen, She Used to Be Mine from Waitress, and Six from Six.

Aagh, that was way too hard to choose. Basically, every single song from those musicals that I mentioned plus others 😂

4. Would you rather have a small house with a lot of land, or a large house with a small amount of land?

Well, considering how I’ve lived in a small house with a lot of land for my entire life, that’s what I’d choose. You’re more isolated, you have room for critters, and barbecues are easier! Although having a small house with ten people is a little bit cramped, but we make it work.

5. If you had a mini fridge in your room, what would you stock it with?

Chocolate, lettuce, yogurt, strawberry applesauce, and ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. Just some of my favorite snacks 😊

6. In the future or present, what are 5 things you think are mandatory to have in your house?

A couch, a piano (obviously!), a bed, important appliances like a fridge and a toilet, and space to do your thing!

7. What event or which person has had the biggest impact on your life? Why? (No need to go into specifics if you don’t want to)

Ooh, good question! I’d say positive impact would be my decisions to join and leave the Young Writers’ Workshop. My writing journey improved greatly when I joined, but now I really miss it. Maybe I can rejoin soon.

Negative impact is probably. . . . not really one specific thing, but a bunch of little things over my childhood that made me insecure about my personality and my interests and my laugh etc. They’ve made me a little wary of people nowadays.

8. What do you like to do in order to pass time when you’re bored?

Unfortunately, the answer would be get on my phone and scroll through Pinterest. I have a little bit of a Pinterest addiction 😅 But it’s not all bad because I’m gathering inspiration for different projects, right??

9. Would you rather be a famous vlogger or blogger? Why?

Vlogger, and only because I’ve had dreams of being a YouTuber for a long time, since fifth grade or so. I don’t know if that’s the kind of career I’m going to go into one day, but it would be fun!

10. Just ’cause of something I’ve personally experienced…Would you rather be in -15ºF or 115ºF weather?

Depends on where I am. Am I inside a building with access to blankets or AC? If I’m just outside, I would prefer 115ºF because that’s the kind of weather we get down here in the south and I’m kind of used to it. I am very good at underdressing in the winter (I actually don’t even own a jacket 😅) and that’s because I’m usually inside snuggled in a blanket. I usually freeze during church.

11. What’s your opinion on olives?

I’m mildly terrified of them.

The Sunshine Blogger Award ~ In Which I Answer More Questions About Myself

Guess what guys! I got tagged for another award! This is my *checks papers* third award?!! Wow! I never expected to be tagged for three awards so early on in blogging!

The wonderful Ananya tagged me for this award and I can’t wait to answer her questions! So, without further ado, let’s get started!!

The Rules Boring Stuffs

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog. ✔

2. Answer all the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you. ✔

3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions. ✔

4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your blog post. ✔

Now, on to the questions!!

1. What’s Your Pet Peeve?

I have so many pet peeves over so many random things.

I really hate when people spell words wrong. That just….really gets on my nerves for some reason. I can also be pretty OCD about things. Like, take a Christmas tree. If the ornaments aren’t spread equally over the tree, I just….*inhales deeply*…..I have to leave the room for a bit XD

2. Name Your Favorite Music Artists (Any Genre).

Oh, now you’re asking for it!

TobyMac, Hollyn, Jamie Grace, Group 1 Crew, Britt Nicole, Jordan Feliz, Newsboys, Francesca Battistelli, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Owl City, Imagine Dragons, for KING & COUNTRY, Superchic(k), The Script, elybeatmaker (I am not sorry), Casting Crowns, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Capital Kings, and a sprinkle of others that I’ve only heard one or two songs from.

There’s probably others that I can’t think of right now.

I’ll post more about songs and songwriters next week, so yeah, stay tuned for that if you want to hear me ramble about my favorite subject EVER.

3. Describe Yourself in Three Words.

Just three? Why not twelve paragraphs plus footnotes?

Just kidding!

Optimisticcrazywriterperson, Kindofgetsdepressedsometimes, Togetherslapperofwords

There. Three words.

4. What’s Your Favorite Book?

Percy Jackson.

No specific book, just PERCY JACKSON

5. Tea or Coffee?

6. Who’s Your Role Model?

For what field of life? Because I have several.

Writing: Rick Riordan and Andrew Peterson

I look up to Rick Riordan because of his incredible writing voice. The way he describes things is amazing! I’ve been kind of studying his descriptions so I can improve. This is how I learn things. I study on my own time 😅

I look up to Andrew Peterson because of the story development he did before he started writing The Wingfeather Saga. He wrote the history of his fantasy land, Aerwiar, before he started writing the actual books so that he could understand how to write about it. That’s dedication right there, and I can appreciate dedication like that.

Songwriting: Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, TobyMac, and Francesca Battistelli

I look up to Benj Pasek and Justin Paul because OH MY GOODNESS THEIR MUSIC IS AMAZING!!!! But, they are also so incredibly talented at writing inspirational songs. Music has incredible power when used right, and having an understanding of that power is what makes a talented songwriter.

I look up to TobyMac because he is one of the oldest artists I can remember listening to on a regular basis. My dad has listened to his music as far back as I can remember, and there’s just something about Toby’s music. Some of the genres he sings in I wouldn’t listen to but because they’re TobyMac songs that just makes them…..better, I guess. Considering what he’s been through in the past couple of years, the fact that he is still singing songs that are Biblically correct is impressive, especially when several artists are now turning away from the doctrine that they’ve been preaching for years.

I look up to Francesca Battistelli because of the way her songs are written. They’re so pretty and they have such great lyrics! Not to mention, her voice is beautiful!!

I also look up to several other artists, but this might get kind of long if I keep going. 😅

Acting: Phillipa Soo and Tom Hiddleston

I look up to Phillipa Soo because, ever since I started listening to Hamilton, she’s always been one of my favorite actresses. They way she conveys emotion is amazing. Putting full passion into sadness can be hard sometimes, but she does it so beautifully and gracefully.

I look up to Tom Hiddleston for some of the same reasons I look up to Phillipa Soo. I’ve only seen one Thor movie, but I could see the depth behind Loki’s character that Tom Hiddleston portrayed so delicately. It only took all that feeling to turn Loki into my favorite Marvel character. No, I’m not a Loki fangirl, what are you talking about?

And then, of course, I look up to the wonderful friends and family that I’ve been blessed with. I take influence from waaaay too many places to list here, but this is just a choice few.

7. What’s Your Favorite Quote?

It’s on the home page of my blog:

Be yourself, because everyone else is already taken.

Oscar Wilde

I don’t know what it is about this quote, but it is so beautiful.

I also like this one:

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.

Bil Keane

And yes, before you start typing, I already know that this quote is also from Kung Fu Panda. Let’s just ignore that, please.

8. Who’s Your Favorite Blogger?(You Can’t Name YOURSELF Like I Did Last Time)

Ha, even if I could name myself, I wouldn’t, even though I do enjoy my posts XD

No, my favorite blogger is Allison @ A Farm Girl’s Life. Her photography is incredible and I love reading her posts!

9. What Are Those Things Which Will Never Change in Your Lifetime?

What do you mean by this question? Do you mean things about me or things about the world around me?

*waits for answer*

Oh right, she can’t hear me.

I’ll just list things about myself.

I know that my silliness and love of singing will never change. I will always love my family, no matter what happens. I will always have crazy, random ideas popping into my head. And of course, most importantly, I will always love and trust in the Lord, because I know He will always take care of me.

10. Choose One: Hollywood or Bollywood

11. What’s the Color of Your Soul?

Is this a personality quiz thing?

*searches Google* Ooh, it is! I love personality quizzes!

*takes quiz*

Your soul is both serene and radiant. Its lovely green and golden hues make it the perfect shade of chartreuse. When you are with your friends, they can feel your inner warmth encompassing them, and they always feel more enlightened when they leave. You are a true gem in the soul department, and you should flaunt your soul’s color every chance you get.

That’s what I got. Yeah, sure, that’s definitely me. 😂 I took another test and it gave me Indigo, but that definitely didn’t suit me.

Eh, personality quizzes rarely ever label me correctly. I think the only personality quizzes to label me correctly was the Official Godly Parent Quiz on the Percy Jackson website, and the MBTI quiz.

That was fun though!

The Outstanding Original Blogger Award ~ In Which I am Apparently Outstanding

I don’t know why, but the size and shape of that banner thingy is really annoying me

Not too long ago, I was scrolling through a post on one of the blogs I follow, when I saw my name. Intrigued, I scrolled back up, and realized that I was tagged. Now that I was a little more invested in the post, I went back through and read the whole thing. That was when I realized that not only had I been tagged for a blog tag, it was an award!

So, thank you, Bea, for tagging me for this award! Let’s get started!!

  1. Provide the link to the creator’s original award post (Here it is)
  2. Answer the questions provided
  3. Create 7 unique questions
  4. Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure that they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator, nor the blogger that nominated you can be nominated.
  5. At the end of 2021, every blog that pingbacks the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2021 Outstanding Blogger award.

Alright, now that all that boring stuff is out of the way, let’s move on to the fun stuff: the questions!!

1. What Is Your Favorite Hobby?

Oh boy.

If anyone knows me, they know that this is a loaded question XD The amount of hobbies I have is ridiculous.

I love scrapbooking, because putting pictures and journaling on a page to preserve memories is so much fun. My family has been scrapbooking for almost my whole life, and I love looking at all the pictures.

I also enjoy writing songs, because there’s nothing quite like putting melodies and harmonies and stories and accompaniments together to make something that might touch someone’s life.

And I love to write and sing and act and a bunch of other stuff.

I guess I really don’t have a “favorite” hobby. I love them all!

2. Have You Ever Dyed Your Hair?

No, I haven’t, but I would like to one day. Maybe highlights or tips?

If I were to dye it, I’m not sure what color I would get. Literally everyone says purple (including the personality quizzes I took!) but I would also love to have blue.

3. What Is an Abnormal Fear You Have?

I used to be paranoid of bugs crawling into my ears. Still am, to be honest, although not quite as much. I was a strange child.

4. Do You Like Asparagus?

Yeah, I love asparagus!! Archibald, Junior, and them. They’re great!

*director rushes in*

Oh yeah, okay.

*whispers again*

*director nods, rushes off again*

No, I hate asparagus. It tastes nasty. And the texture….*shivers*

5. Scrunchies, Yay or Nay?

I used to have a scrunchie that I wore on my wrist for no reason whatsoever.

Then the rubber band snapped, and I was very sadz.

6. What, In Your Opinion, Is the Point of Life?

*exhales* Um….okay.

I think the purpose of life is to love and serve God. No one knows the real reason He put us on this earth, but our existence is not pointless, and never will be. It’s up to God to decide what we are here for. He loves all of his children and wants them to love Him back.

*wipes brow*

That was an unexpected question. Is the next one more lighthearted?

7. Do You Use Text Abbreviations While Actually Texting?

Yeah, this is definitely a lot more lighthearted.

I don’t text, mainly because I don’t have a phone, but if I did text, there would be little to no abbreviations. I prefer proper grammar 98% of the time.

So yeah.

My Questions:

  1. If You Had an Unlimited Amount of Candy For a Day, How Much Would You Eat?
  2. Does Anyone in Your Family Scrapbook?
  3. Do You Like to Sing?
  4. Do You Know Your Vocal Range?
  5. Are You Homeschooled, or Have You Been? What Did You Take From it?
  6. What is Your Dream Job?
  7. What Was Your Favorite TV Show When You Were Younger?

The Liebster Award ~ In Which I Won an Award!!

I definitely wasn’t expecting to get tagged for an award so early on in my blogging career. I say career. It really isn’t XD

But, Hannah @ Precarious Book Stacks was kind enough to nominate me, and then Maya @ Maya Joelle nominated me as well! Who am I to ignore that?

Let’s get started, shall we?

1. Thank the person who nominated you, include a link to their blog, and add the Liebster Award badge to your blog and/or post. ✔

2. Answer the eleven questions from the person who nominated you. ✔

3. Give eleven random facts about yourself. ✔

4. Nominate 5-11 fellow bloggers. ✔

5. Notify your nominees that you nominated them for the Liebster Award. ✔

6. Ask your nominees eleven questions. ✔

Hannah’s Questions:

1. What Was the First Story You Wrote About?

I was five when I wrote my first story, so it was a little rough.

Actually, before I tell you what the story was about, some context.

My cousin, who has always been one of my very best friends, was over at my house (which didn’t doesn’t happen often) and we were watching Blue’s Clues, because that was my brother’s thing, and we were pretty bored. In the episode, Blue and Magenta were writing secret letters to each other, and I really liked that for some reason. After the episode finished, I dragged my cousin to my room, grabbed a stack of paper, and started writing a secret letter. She did the same. It was a story about her and Blue. She worked at a dog “fram” (farm) and Blue was one of the dogs there. She really liked Blue, and hid her whenever people came to get a dog. And then, at the end of the book, “she got Blue, her favorite dog”.

Unfortunately, she had to leave before I finished, but I finished it anyway and kept it. I still have it to this day, although it’s in pretty sad shape. After that, I don’t really remember how the rest of the stories I wrote came about, but I remember that one vividly.

*shrugs* My memory is strange.

2. What Is the Weirdest Thing You’ve Had To Research For a Book?

I’m not sure. I’ve researched a lot of things. Let me go browse my search history.

So, my search history won’t let me scroll any further than a week ago, so I’ll just go off the top of my head.

I had to research pregnancy symptoms and stomach size and other random pregnancy stuff for a segment in my NaNo novel, which was about Mary, the mother of Jesus. The Google staff must have thought I was pregnant 😅 (I’m not XP)

3. Do You Enjoy Math?

Next question.

4. Do You Like Grammar?

I am a grammar Nazi that doesn’t pay that much attention to grammar, if that makes any sense at all.

So yeah, I like grammar, but it depends on what kind of mood I’m in. More often than not, my friends have corrected my grammar, to which I respond, “I’m Southern. Grammar don’t matter down here.”

I mean, it kind of does. But who talks properly anymore?

5. If You Had To Stop Writing, What Would You Do Instead?

Well, actually, I figured that out about a year and a half ago. I’m going to do musical theatre!!

*glances at your stunned faces*

What, you couldn’t already figure that out?

I do love writing, but it’s not my passion. I’ve been acting almost as long as I’ve been writing. (I started acting nine months after I wrote my first story) I love acting, singing, playing instruments etc. so I decided that this is what I want to do. With God’s allowance, of course!

But, writing is definitely something I want to do as well. After all, I have several great ideas that just need to be fleshed out a little! The publishing world will eat them up!

Heaven help us all

6. What Is the Most Random Thing You Have Witnessed In This Crazy World of Ours?

Now why on earth would you go and ask this question?!! I have a hard time remembering this kind of thing. I know there’s some kind of bizarre thing that has happened, but now I can’t think of anything.

I got chased by a flock of chickens once.

Oh! Wait! Our cats like to sit in the cat bowls. Just chill in their bowls. They’re so weird.

Yeah, those aren’t that great.

My memory doesn’t want to listen to me right now.

7. Would You Rather Write With a Cup of Tea And Cozy Blankets or Outside With a Light Breeze And Sunshine?

I’m an inside kind of person, so…..cozy blanket, although I don’t do tea. Maybe……Kool-Aid? Sure, Kool-Aid sounds good. Then, the Kool-Aid man would bust through my wall and we’d do a little dance, then I’d have to spend thousands of dollars getting my wall fixed.

It’s worth it for the little dance, though, right?

8. Give Us One Random Blog Post or Story Idea You’ve Had For a While, But It Probably Won’t Turn Into Anything.

Ooh! I like this question!

For awhile, I’ve been wanting to write a short story series about wolves, and I started it several months ago, but from the beginning, it seemed a lot like the Warriors series, so I gave up pretty quickly. I might revisit it, I don’t know.

9. What Is a Random Quirk Your Sibling/Family Has?

Oh boy.

I have three sisters and four brothers and they all have random quirks.

*chooses random sibling*

My sister is horse OBSESSED. She pretends almost everything is a horse. The arm of the couch, her bed, her camping chair, nothingness…..literally EVERYTHING. Thank goodness she’s taking riding lessons. Otherwise, the CEILING FAN would be a horse, I’m sure.

Also, when we’re sleep-deprived, we laugh about almost everything.

No joke.

Sometimes we get in trouble for laughing XD

10. If You Could Learn Any Musical Instrument Right Now, What Instrument Would You Choose?

Just….right now? No endless practicing, no injured fingers, no bursted lungs, none of that? I just know it without the painful stuff that comes with learning it?

Well, I play piano, ukulele, and flute, but not very well. I would like to be able to play ukulele a lot better, since I can only play, like, eight chords. And for flute, I need a lot more lung power. I’m pretty good at piano, but I’m not exceptional.

If I have to choose a completely new instrument, I’d like to know how to play cello. It’s so pretty! The sax is cool, though. Clarinet is pretty special to me, even though I can’t play it one bit.

Wait, how could I forget guitar? That’s something I’ve wanted to learn for awhile, but it hurtssssss and it’s so hardddddd.

So yeah.

11. What Is One Hobby You Want to Try?

Well, I like bullet journaling but I just can’t get into the habit of doing it every day. But, I’ve already done it before, so I guess that doesn’t count.

Cross-stitch looks like fun, and I’ve done a tiny bit. I really want to do it more, but my mom doesn’t have to time to teach me. Still, the feeling of pulling a needle through the fabric is pretty cool.

Maya’s Questions:

1. What Is Your Favorite Summertime Drink?

A nice cold cup of water. No ice, though. Ice makes it too cold.

2. Have You Ever Met Someone Whose First Language Was Not English (Or Was Your First Language Not English)? What Was That Like?

Okay, I really like this question.

My sister’s friend, Rebecca, is half-Mexican. Her dad is the pastor for Spanish church, and I’m pretty sure his first language is Spanish. He’s preached at our church a couple of times, and if he gets too excited, he starts preaching in Spanish! Most of the people in his family don’t speak any English, so he has to translate for them, which is pretty cool! Spanish is such a pretty language!

3. Do You Fluently Speak Any Language Other Than Your First? Which One? How’d You Learn It?

I do indeed. It is the language of sarcasm, that I picked up from various places. *nods*

LOL, I’m just kidding, although I’m great at being sarcastic. I can more or less speak (or…not?) American Sign Language. I’m learning it for school, and it’s so much fun! Sign language has always been one of my favorite languages.

This talk of speaking ASL is confusing me. Let’s move on.

4. Have You Ever Made Up a Language, Or Do You Want To?

Let me tell you, the ability to speak in a language that literally no one else knows would be amazing. I actually started making a language for one of my books, and it kind of died. *is now inspired to pick it back up*

5. Is It Snowy Where You Live?

Heck no.

6. What Song Did You Last Listen To? Did You Like It?

Well, Supernatural by DC Talk just went off. And now I’m listening to an ad. Fun stuff.

I’d say I liked it. It has a thumbs-up, so….most likely? XD

7. Would You Rather Be Lizzy Bennett (Pride and Prejudice) Or Peter Parker (Spider-Man)? (Ignore Whether You’re the Same Gender For This Question And Just Think About the Situation/Personality.)

Is this question a sign that I need to finish my school assignment of reading Pride and Prejudice? 😉 Just kidding!

Spider-Man definitely. I’ve always loved him, and having his abilities would be SICK, YO!!

8. Have You Ever Been to Michigan? If So, What Did You Think of It?

*sobs* I have not been to Michigan, but several of my friends live there, so I’m going up there one day! For sure!

9. Favorite Non-Official Holiday? (For Example, Mine Is Maple Sugar Fest.)

National Donut Day, which is sometime in November, I think. I didn’t hear about it until last year, and I love donuts, so this should have been in my life sooner.

10. Does Your Church Follow the Liturgical Calendar?

The….the what? Hold on.

Ah, the calendar for all the feasts and stuff.

No. No we do not.

11. Do You Like Being Asked About Your Future Plans? Why or Why Not?

Are people supposed to be asking me about my future plans? I don’t think anyone’s asked me about my plans for awhile, besides my mom, who just wanted to know if I was still interested in musical theatre.
